Forgive and Forget
Monday, September 20th, 20108:00 am… quiet moment in bathroom (ahem, yes I go there too) while I think about the schedule of who goes where at what time. I did have these thoughts… then I must have flushed.
8:20 am… dress Dija and find no hairbrush because it was left at Nana’s. Improvise and use fingers.
8:31am… great we’re late and have a 30 second drive to get Trey to school. Nobody notices and he isn’t the last kid to arrive – phew!
8:40am… back home, feed Dija her oatmeal that goldilocks did not eat while we were out. Pack up things to take to office.
9:05am… deliver Dija to Nana’s house for her alone with Nana morning. Pick up Justin and his skeleton (yes a separate one not the one he was wearing) and head to work.
9:45am… first client arrives and Cheryl falls into the abyss….
11:45am… Nana gets the “Is someone picking up Trey today?” call. She calls office and speaks to Justin who sends Astrid with my van and Trey is quietly delivered to Nana.
12:00pm… Astrid hands me my van key (I have passing thought – oh she borrowed my van) and I go to prepare for my next client.
1:45pm… (Go ahead and count the hours lapsed in here) Justin comments to me, “so who forgot to pick up Trey today?” A quick glance at the clock tells me it’s way too late to be upset. “Me! I forgot him.” And with that I picked up the phone to get the story. Astrid pops in to pick up Justin and I thank her for saving the day. This is a nice change for her because she’s the super forgetful one lately but that’s another blog entry!
1:47ish… I place an apologetic call to the nursery school. “Ok what’s your excuse?” was the teacher’s question. Well, um, I have no excuse I simply forgot… just plain completely forgot that detail today.
The real story is that I seriously forgot to arrange his drive home today and I am the detail coordinator for these things. Thankfully I have a friend who is going to help up out on Wednesday so if I fall into that abyss again the poor kid will still make it to Nana’s. It’s not that my job is really that demanding but you try spending the day at the Spa and still remember everything… that’s hard work!
No child was harmed for the production of this blog. He seems quite ok with spending a little one on one with his teacher and didn’t mind being the last kid at school. Forgive me… I forgot!
