Operation Free Christmas Update
Wednesday, December 7th, 2011I know some people think we are nuts because we are not shopping for Christmas but let me tell you how un-nutty it is! It is so nice to not be running in circles trying to navigate the malls and retail stores right now. We are finding our creativity and thinking up some interesting gifts. Astrid went “shopping” in my house. One item she was looking for (that I didn’t have) made me ask if it was to make a necklace…. It was and I ruined her idea because I had been looking at the same website that she was!
Nana has joined in on the fun as well and I expect all kids will have new pajamas.
I’ve been painting and sewing and scheming. I don’t think anyone will think Santa missed our house.
Friday night we bundled the kids up for the Santa Parade in Liverpool. Then we didn’t watch it but instead we sat on a float together. We’ve never done that before! Yes we are up to new adventures again. Corey suggested we do 12 days of Christmas new stuff with the kids… Now I need to come up with 11 more new ideas. So on the first day of Christmas (and I’m giving us the entire month to fit the 12 days in) we dressed as angels, a shepherd, and a king and said Merry Christmas to Liverpool. It was the Milton Sunday School float and the kids were fantastic waving to all their fans. Our picture is on page 2 of this week’s Queens County Advance (another first).
Another weekend activity was to make a Christmas ornament together… The second day of Christmas.
2 down… 10 to go.
I’ve also figured out that if I can’t find an item I need I can post it on Facebook and friends come to my rescue. People are willing to share. I had a quick meeting with a creative mind today at Lighthouse Publishers to help me figure out how to complete a project I wanted to do. Tina Hennigar has great ideas. I needed her input on how to nail this one. I think of all my projects this one will be my favorite to work on and to see the end result. Time to get back to work…
